An extension of the legendary New York showcase that has inspired the industry for nearly 50 years, Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas is a premier design event in the region. The event that brings together top interior designers and architects to transform a luxury residence. Now in its sixth year, the Dallas Show House promises bold, spectacularly reimagined spaces by Interior Designer Tula Demetra Summerford of Design by Tula. The event showcases Avram Rusu Studio’s Continuum Sconces, Marea Pendants, and brand new Botanica Bloom Chandelier.
Inspired by banana flowers, the Botanica Collection is a surreal topical fantasy in handblown glass with braided leather or ribbed brass stems - thorns optional. The Botanica Bloom Chandelier renders an abstract Banana blossom in hand blown glass. An elongated teardrop is topped by three glass leaves in varied colors and capped by a crown of stacked light dishes.
The Marea Collection is an exploration of organic forms inspired by marine life and underwater seascapes. Marea translates to ‘the sea’ in Romanian and the collection is informed by designer Andreea Avram Rusu’s childhood summers on the Black Sea and her love of scuba diving. The Large Leidyi Pendant evokes domed shell and coral forms and is rendered in layered handblown glass with a delicate brass chain.
The Continuum Collection was inspired by New York’s vibrant street art. The structure utilizes custom bent tubes that can be connected and arranged in a variety of ways to produce multiple styles and sizes. The hand blown glass shades are proportioned to accentuate the sculptural lines of each model.
Tula Demetra Summerford
Tula Demetra Summerford is known for creating rooms that are richly layered with vibrant color, patterned fabrics, and treasured objects from around the world. Inspired by design and architecture from both the past and present, her extensive background in textiles and interiors spans over 30 years. Her innate aesthetic sensibilities, love of textiles, and obsessive attention to detail result in a space that is distinctive of her vision and unique to each client’s personal style. // designbytula.com
