Avram Rusu Studio is a multidisciplinary design studio known for sophisticated interiors and inventive product design. Founded by architect Andreea Avram Rusu in 2004, the company gracefully combines functional concerns with high style.
Andreea’s approach to interiors results in highly personal spaces that reflect the individuality and lifestyle of each client. “I approach my work with a sculptural sensibility,” notes Andreea, “I love combining different periods, vintage, contemporary, limited edition pieces, unusual forms, bold hues, and vibrant patterns. I relish the subtle element of surprise. The more time you spend in space, the more you should love it - that is the hallmark of a great interior”
Andreea’s strong point of view is readily apparent in her product lines. She is passionate about lighting, according to Andreea, “Lighting transforms space. It is the single greatest determinant of how a space feels.” The studio currently produces three handcrafted lighting collections, accessories and limited edition furniture.
Andreea is one of ten members of the Designer Referral Program at New York’s Decoration & Design Building. The Designer Referral Program is a complimentary service to help clients find an interior designer to best suit their taste, project scope, and budget. This juried selection of designers includes award-winning professionals who have been featured in countless renowned design publications and recognized by national trade associations. Andreea is also a member of HGTV’s Professional Network where her work is regularly featured.
Andreea, who was born in Romania, received her Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin. After a year with Atelier Christian de Portzamparc in Paris she came to New York City and worked with Bromley Caldari Architects before opening her eponymous studio on the Brooklyn waterfront. Andreea’s training encompasses painting, drawing and sculpture in addition to design. She is very influenced by the color, shape and composition found in contemporary art and has a particular affinity for sculpture. She’s a lover of cities and the urban lifestyle, a tango dancer and an avid world traveler with a multi-cultural heritage. All these elements inform her vision and work.
